Ruto shows his dance moves during African Development Bank meet at KICC

President William Ruto on Wednesday took time off his critical role as host of the 59th Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank Group at KICC and joined dancers on the podium.

Ruto and African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina showed their dance moves on the podium as the agile dance crew guided them through various dance styles.

They started with a simple sway of the lower body in rhythm with instrumentals to a song by celebrated composer and singer Suzanna Owiyo followed by back-and-forth footstep moves.

Ruto and the AfDB boss did their ultimate best to move in rhythm as the dancers took turns in introducing new dance moves back-to-back.

During the meeting, Ruto reiterated his clarion call for the reform of the global financial architecture to address debt and climate vulnerabilities in Africa.

He said countries in the continent are struggling with high financing interest rates, while also dealing with climate shocks and constrained government revenues.

“A better, more responsive, and fairer international development financial architecture is urgently needed. Time is of the essence,” he said.

Various heads of state including Denis Sassou Nguesso of Congo, Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Emmerson Mnangagwa (Zimbabwe), Hassan Sheikh Mohamud (Somalia) and Mohamed Menfi (President of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya) were in attendance.

Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat, Burundi’s Vice President Prosper Bazombanza and Prime Ministers Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila (Namibia) and Ali Lamine Zeine (Niger) were also present.
