The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is calling on all registered taxpayers to update their registration details on the iTax system.
In a notice dated June 24, the agency said it has initiated a comprehensive data cleanup exercise for all the registered taxpayers' personal identification number (PIN) registration details.
The details to be captured include a phone number, physical address, email address, the physical location of businesses, residency status, and directorships or partnerships held among others.
This effort according to KRA is part of its broader strategy to streamline operations and improve efficiency within the tax administration framework.
To facilitate the update process, taxpayers are required to log in to the iTax system, verify their registered mobile numbers and update any incorrect contact details.
iTax is a system developed by the agency to improve on efficiency and allows one to update their tax registration details, file tax returns and register all tax payments.
It also allows them to make status inquiries with real-time monitoring of their ledger/account.
An OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to the registered mobile number for validation.
“Upon logging into iTax, the system will display the mobile number registered in iTax through which an OTP will be sent for validation of contact details,” reads the notice.
In cases where the registered number is incorrect, taxpayers are instructed to provide the correct mobile number to receive the OTP and gain access to the system.
Those with challenges have been advised to call the contact centre of email the call centre or visit the nearest Huduma centre.
To access the iTax system, one is supposed to log in by visiting itax.kra.go.ke and follow the prompts.
