The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has demanded action from investigative agencies over the rising cases of abduction of persons in the country.

According to LSK, several individuals including mobilisers, facilitators, leaders and social media influencers have continued to face threats as others have been abducted and held incommunicado.

In a statement, the society’s president Faith Odhiambo while attributing this to the ongoing anti-Finance Bill demonstrations pointed an accusing finger at the police.

This is even as she vowed to take legal action against the perpetrators.

“It is inconceivable that law enforcement officers are the perpetrators of illegalities and we will unmask and take actions against these rogue criminal elements putting our police in ruin,” Odhiambo said.

Among those she said are currently being held are Salim Ishmael and Shadrack Kiprono alias Shad Khalif.

The duo, she said, were abducted Monday and their whereabouts remain unknown.

The abductions follow that of a blogger identified as Billy Simani, George Diano and Austin Omondi, a medic at the weekend.

The trio have since been released.

The spate of kidnappings, Odhimbo said, is as a result of unity among the protesters.

She has, however, called for heightened surveillance among the public to thwart such acts.

"We call on the public to remain vigilant and provide any information or tip offs on the whereabouts of those being and the identity of their abductors,” she said.
