Experts warn that exposure to tear gas indoors, or in large amounts, may have serious health effects which include glaucoma, blindness, chemical burns and respiratory failure

There is also the risk of being hit by tear gas cartridges that may cause severe bruising, loss of eyesight, or skull fracture, resulting in death.

People with respiratory conditions have a higher risk of serious symptoms after tear gas exposure.
