The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union has condemned what they termed as acts of brutality and the use of excessive force against health care professionals providing medical assistance to injured protesters during th anti-finance bill protests.

KMPDU through chairperson Abidan Mwachi in a press statement released on Tuesday, said it is fully committed to thoroughly reviewing the severity of acts and will take appropriate action in response.

He said KMPDU emphasises the fundamental principle that in every humanitarian situation, medical personnel remain impartial and dedicated to saving lives.

"It is essential that these selfless acts of service are provided voluntarily and any attack on medical personnel engaged in humanitarian efforts is unacceptable," he said.

Additionally, KMPDU wished to address the ongoing issue of medical interns yet to be assigned to their respective postings.

"Amidst these troubling incidents, we urge all stakeholders to bear in mind that all our interns who are yet to be assigned to their postings remain vigilant and keenly interested in ensuring their concerns are being addressed in the bill presented, in line with the KMPDU- government collective bargaining agreement of 2015," he said.

Mwachi said KMPDU stands united in condemning any form of violence against medical personnel and calls for an immediate end to such attacks.

"We remain unwavering in our dedication to upholding the integrity of the medical profession and defending the rights and safety of health workers," he added.
