Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said the violence witnessed on Tuesday during the Finance Bill demonstrations was unnecessary.

"How did we get here we were elected as a very popular government where did we stop listening to the people," he said.

"President William Ruto and I were the darling of the people by listening to them."

The DP alleged that the team employed to provide the president with intelligence failed to inform him thus exposing him to the chaos witnessed on Tuesday.

"Our NIS team slept on the job it had taken people to die and protest across the country for the president to know the truth of how the people of Kenya feel," he said.
