Military officers have now moved to the city centre in Nairobi ahead of their deployment.

The officers gathered early morning at the Nyayo stadium for briefing and planning before they were seen making their way to the CBD.

A convoy of land cruisers and armoured personnel carriers (APCs) were seen snaking their way through Uhuru highway.

Another team of officers on standby made its way from the stadium through Langata Road to Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Officials aware of the plans said they will be deployed to guard critical government installations.

"The government has followed procedures on deploying the military to support the police," said officials aware of the plans.

"They will primarily safeguard critical infrastructure and guarantee safety in Nairobi," the official added.

Demonstrators have warned against marching to the State House.

The CBD remained calm with most shops closed even as police assured those who opened their businesses of their safety.

Heavy police presence has been witnessed in various parts of the city.

Some were seen conducting patrols.
