A video clip of a man seen wielding what appears to be a firearm in an undisclosed location has set the internet abuzz sparking widespread fears among Kenyans.

In the one-minute clip, shared on X, the man whose identity is yet to be revealed is seen walking along a highway leading a group of youth who are carrying anti-finance bill placards.

He is heard proclaiming that he fears no one and that he was only there to ensure the safety of the protesters.

“Mimi siogopi mtu (I don’t fear anyone), I only fear God. Peaceful demonstrations, we are not blocking the road,” the man with both a black shirt and pants and an Arafat scarf is heard yelling.

However, when reached for a comment police downplayed the matter.

Senior police sources who spoke to the Star said they have since checked and established that the purported rifle is a dummy and that they are hunting down him for questioning.

“We are looking for him, we want to interrogate him to establish the motive behind his actions,” said the officer.

The man is said to be from Mumias in Kakamega.

The clip has since attracted mixed reactions with many wondering how the man got the firearm as others alleged that he is a government operative.

"Who is this? Who armed him?" posed Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai.
