South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro.

South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has responded to claims about the razing of his rural homes in protest over the recent Finance Bill.

Osoro is among the MPs from the Kenya Kwanza wing who voted in favor of the controversial Bill which has since been withdrawn.

In a post, the lawmaker termed the reports as falsified noting he is safe as he warned those planning such actions that they will face the consequences.

"I am in my rural home, safe and all jocular as I enjoy stories from my people," he said.

"But, if criminals target my home,well, either of us will suffer instant justice," he added.

The National Assembly majority whip also absolved the youth (Gen Zs) from the accusations saying those with such plans as arsonists.

"That is an insult to Gen Z's.They are NOT arsonists," he noted.

There were widespread allegations Friday that a group of youth had stormed the residence trying to set the home on fire.

Police are, however, said to have responding and thwarted such efforts.

Several homes and businesses owned by legislators who voted to pass the bill have been the target of the goons.

Among those said to have been razed is that of Molo MP Kuria Kimani.

Kimani is the National Assembly's Finance committee chairperson.

Church leaders from different denominations in Molo converged at the home Friday to perform spiritual cleansing.

The ceremony, held in the courtyard of Kimani's home, was marked by prayers and hymns.

Kieni MP Wanaina Njoroge also lost over Sh550 million after his supermarket in Nyeri was vandalised and looted.

"I lost movable stock worth Sh450 million and equipment such as bakery shelves, among others, valued at Sh100 million," the MP said.
