Man accused of entering Parliament compound charged

A man who is alleged to have broken into the parliamentary compound last week was on Monday has been charged before a Nairobi court.

Stephen Mokogi Nyarenchi was charged with unlawful entry into the parliamentary precincts contrary to section 31(1) (a).

He was accused that on June 28 at around 0510 hours in Starehe Sub-County within Nairobi, he entered the parliamentary compound by climbing over the fence along Parliament Road without lawful authority.

Mokogi appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi and denied the charges.

He pleaded for lenient bond terms from the court and was released on a cash bail of Sh2,000.

The prosecution has listed three witnesses to testify in the case.
