Medics for Kenya, a body formed by health practitioners to provide emergency services during anti-tax protests in Kenya, have announced the withdrawal of their services.

The team included doctors, nurses, clinical officers, psychologists, nutritionists, paramedics, interns and students.

Medics for Kenya co-founders, Dr. Austin Omondi and Dr Salim Ismael announced the withdrawal in a joint statement.

“With the change in maandamano atmosphere and the deployment of goons, we as Medics For Kenya, highly value the lives of our volunteers. As we say in the corridors of hospitals, 'Your Safety Comes First' , therefore, it is with much regret and pain that we announce Medics For Kenya will withdraw their medical camp services all across the country,” they said.

They said that their hotlines will remain open and will coordinate services between emergency response providers and hospitals.

The withdrawal comes after the peaceful anti-finance bill protest led by Gen Z was infiltrated by goons.

Omondi said that they have been risking their lives to save their brothers and sisters due to respect for mankind.

"Risking your lives to save your fellow brothers and sisters is the noblest act bestowed to man," he said.

In Nairobi, the medics camp had been set up at Jamia mosque, All Saint Cathedral and Holy Family Basilica.
