Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Friday pledged to sponsor a girl seen selling boiled maize by the roadside in Thika.
The young girl was captured in a video selling boiled maize in school uniform at night.
Babu shared the video of the girl on his Facebook account urging anyone to help him get in touch with the girl.
He expressed a strong desire to make a meaningful impact in her life and future.
He said he wants to sponsor her education and provide her parents with the financial support needed to start a business.
"Someone to get me this girl’s contact please I want to sponsor her education and give her parents money to start a business," Babu said.
Babu said the young girl reminded him of his own days when he used to sell chang'aa every day after school.
"This girl leaves Kisiwa Primary school in Thika every evening to go sell boiled maize by the roadside which reminds me of when I used to sell chang’aa every day after school in my whole primary and secondary school life," he said.
He termed what she was going through as temporary challenges.
