Justice Majanja to be cremated on July 17

High Court Judge David Majanja will be cremated on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

A funeral service will be conducted at Friends International Centre, Ngong Road starting from 9 am and a private interment ceremony held by the family.

The cremation will be conducted by the family privately.

Thereafter, a Memorial Service will be held in Shinyalu constituency, Kakamega county on Saturday 20, July 2024.

Both events will be live-streamed on the Judiciary YouTube page and Facebook page.

The family has requested that they be accorded sensitivity and compassion during this mourning period.

Majanja was appointed Judge of the High Court in 2011 and served at the high courts in Homa Bay, Migori, Kisumu and Kisii.

He also served at the Commercial and Tax Divisions and Milimani High Court Civil Division.

The late Justice Majanja practised law specialising in Civil and Commercial Law, was involved in public interest litigation and was assisting Counsel for the Commission of Inquiry into the Post-Election Violence (Waki Commission).

He was also a commissioner at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), the Chair, of the Administration of Justice Committee at JSC and a member of the Judiciary Rules Committee.

Justice Majanja was also the Vice-chairperson Judiciary Working Committee on Election Preparations (JWCEP).

Majanja was sworn in as a member of the Judicial Service Commission on May 28, 2024.

This was after he was re-elected to represent the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) on JSC.
