Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party has dismissed the push for a national dialogue to address issues raised by the youth during recent protests.

Party leader David Ochieng, who is also the MP for Ugenya said President William Ruto should instead take immediate and firm action against the known issues that are ailing the country.

Ochieng explained that one does not need dialogue to address the runaway corruption, unemployment, tribalism and inequity in the country.

“I want to remind the President that this is not the time for dialogue, neither is it time for cheap talk. The D in NADCO stood for dialogue. It is time for action,” said the MP during the MDG party delegates convention in Migori town.

MDG party is an affiliate of the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.

Further, Ochieng called for the immediate and unconditional release of all the demonstrators who are still in police custody and those who were “abducted” and their whereabouts are unknown.

He further added that the issues raised by Gen Zs are pertinent and thus those who were charged in court should be released for they have no case to answer.

Ochieng advised the President to chart a new way forward for his government by having an all-inclusive, competent and non-corrupt Cabinet.

He added that the President in his new Cabinet must ensure that the face of Kenya is represented in letter and spirit.

“To build a cohesive nation, the President must pick the best minds and he should ensure no single community gets more than one slot in the next Cabinet,” he stated.

The MP who lauded Ruto’s move to dissolve the Cabinet said the new development presented him with the best opportunity to reshape and refocus the country’s faltering economic and political fortunes.

He added that the competence of the last Cabinet was wanting, which created confidence deficit leading the dissatisfaction by the majority of Kenyans.

The MP said Kenya has good brains to turn the economy if given a chance.

Ochieng who has been leading membership recruitment drives for the MDG party in various counties said given an opportunity to lead this country, his party will firmly deal with scourge of corruption.
