Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin has alleged that the first victim of the Kware suspect was his wife.
“The suspect alleged that the first victim was his wife whom he strangled to death before he dismembered and disposed of the body at the Kware site," Amin said.
On Monday at DCI headquarters, Amin said the suspect led officers to his single room in Kware located 100m from the quarry.
"This is where he told us what he has been doing to the victims," he said.
Amin disclosed the list of items found in possession of the suspect in the Kware killings.
"His pursuit and subsequent arrest followed a very thorough forensic analysis of a mobile phone that belonged to one of the victims where some mobile money transactions were conducted on the very day she went missing," the DCI boss said.
According to Amin, several items have been recovered in his procession including 24 sim cards, eight smartphones, and two feature phones, one laptop and one hard drive.
Two flash drives and a memory card, one machete, which detectives believe was being used to dismember the victims, and 12 nylon sacks similar to the ones that were used to stuff the bodies were also recovered.
Also recovered were a pair of industrial rubber gloves, six ID cards for men and two ID cards for women, one pink female handbag, two pink female panties, five rolls of cannabis sativa, and four clear sellotapes.
Amin said after interrogation, it was revealed that the suspect had allegedly killed 42 women and disposed of their bodies in the dumpsite in a span of two years.
"The suspect confessed to having lured, killed and disposed of a total of 42 female bodies," the DCI boss said.
He said that the victims were all alleged to have been murdered between 2022 and as recently as July 11, 2024.
The victims were killed, wrapped and disposed of similarly.
"The suspect alleged that the first victim was his wife, whom he strangled to death dismembered and dumped in the site," Amin said.
