A video clip of former Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen singing along to a hymn while self-driving is old, we can confirm.

The clip being circulated on various social media platforms emerged a few days after President William Ruto dissolved the Cabinet.

Murkomen is among the CSs who recently came under the spotlight over the alleged display of opulence and lavish lifestyles.

He has, however, asked the MPs to legislate laws such that all civil servants are audited before and after assuming public offices to monitor wealth acquisition.

In the two-minute clip, Murkomen is heard singing to the Kalenjin hymn book number 222 “Atinye choruet ne chaman kot” (I have a friend who loves me).

This has been interpreted by some online users to mean the CS is now regretful of his actions and that he has learnt a lesson.

“Iliniramba lakini nitainuka tena, next time I will learn to close my mouth,” a short caption accompanying the clip reads.

A check on his pages, however, shows no such post with the last activity being November 2023.

The CS first posted this particular clip on April 3, 2020, on his Facebook page while at an undisclosed location.

He was then serving as a second-term senator for Elgeiyo Marakwet.

“I’ve found a friend who is all to me (saved, saved),” he wrote.

The dissolution of the cabinet follows pressure from Kenyans who alleged that some CSs had lost confidence over corruption allegations and poor performance.

In a recent interview after the widespread protests by the youth in the country, Ruto affirmed that some of the cabinet members had failed him.
