[PHOTOS] Aranduh takes over as Prisons commissioner general

Kenya Prisons Service on Tuesday welcomed Patrick  Aranduh as its new Commissioner General.

The service at the same time bid farewell to Brigadier (Rtd) John K. Warioba who is exiting the service.

"It is a new dawn for the Kenya Prisons Service as the Commissioner General of Prisons Mr. Patrick M.Aranduh MBS takes over from the outgoing CGP Brig(Rtd) John K. Warioba, CBS at the Prisons Headquarters," the Prisons Service tweeted.

The ceremony was held at the  Prisons Headquarters marked the end of Brigadier Warioba's time in charge.

Aranduh brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having risen ranks from prison constable to now leading the department.

"The incoming CGP Mr.Aranduh is a well-seasoned officer who has risen through the ranks from Prisons Constable to the helm of the department," the statement read on X.

Previously, he served in various capacities such as duty officer, court officer, an officer in charge in various prisons, Regional Commander Central, Deputy Director of Planning and Development, and Director of Logistics.

He served as of Director Planning and Development until his recent appointment by  President William Ruto.

During the ceremony, Aranduh expressed gratitude to President Ruto for the appointment and pledged to uphold principles of diligence, justice, and safety in inmate containment.

Warioba encouraged staff to extend their support to the new Commissioner General, underscoring continuity and unity in advancing the mission of the Kenya Prisons Service.

"I retire with my head and proud to have serviced in the prison department and encouraged staff to support the new CGP. " he said.
