UDA has urged the youth to present themselves at the planned multi-sectoral dialogue to be at the centre of the country’s anticipated reforms.
UDA national youth leader Kariuki Ngunjiri said the youth can also use the forum to demand representation in President William Ruto’s new Cabinet.
“If the youth wish for representation in Cabinet as the President retreats to form it, this is the time to present themselves in the National Dialogue and make their case,” he stated.
In a statement, Ngunjiri added that the youth constituency must be awake to the reality that the entire population direly needs their action to make Kenya better.
“As changes happen in government, do not relent, do not despair, show and demonstrate that you have what it takes to be entrusted with great responsibilities,” he stated.
He insisted that the convention must give prominence to youth affairs if it is to achieve the intended purpose.
“To the youth of Kenya, let us show, defend our space and stand to be counted. This is the time!” he said,
Ngunjiri pleaded to the youth not to allow such an important opportunity to go down the drain.
“Fortunately we have an opportunity, in the proposed dialogue. I implore the youth of Kenya to take advantage of this opportunity and place their best foot forward,” he said.
“You cannot influence policy by mere protest. You must send your envoys to the room where the future is being shaped”.
He warned that the youth might lose opportunity by emptying the great ideas on the streets.
On Wednesday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said Ruto needs prayer as he seeks new leaders for his Cabinet.
"President Ruto needs prayers and we know through your help, we will make the government better," he said.
Gachagua said that the President needs leaders who will respect the people of Kenya and deliver on their mandate.
