11 ministries yet to get a cabinet secretary nominee

President William Ruto has nominated 10 CSs for his government following the sacking of the entire Cabinet.

The President said that his new cabinet has been nominated following an extensive consultation.

The President said that further consultations are ongoing and he will announce more names in due course.

Previously the President had appointed 22 members to his Cabinet.

There are 11 ministries for which the President is yet to nominate the cabinet secretaries.

They include the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of East African Community, The ASALs and Regional Developments, the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, the Ministry of Public Service Performance, and Delivery Management and the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage.

Others are the Ministry of National Treasury and Planning, Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development,  Youth Affairs and Sports and Labour and Social Protection.

Among those nominated on Friday include Kithure Kindiki for the Ministry of the Interior and National Administration, Debra Mulongo Barasa for the Ministry of Health,  Aden Duale for the Ministry of Defence and Davis Chirchir named the Ministry of Roads and Transport CS.

Others are the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry (Soipan Tuya), Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation ( Eric Muuga) Ministry of Education (Julius Migosi) and Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (Andrew Muhia Karanja).

The President further named Alice Wahome for the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development and Margaret Ndungu to head the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy.

The President nominated Rebecca Miano as the Attorney General.

The President named the new CSs during the State of the  Nation address at State House, Nairobi, on Friday.

This comes after pressure mounted on the President to pick competent people who will help him deliver on his agenda.

While naming the cabinet, Ruto was flanked by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi.
