The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) has called on the youth to suspend anti-government protests and allow President William Ruto to implement their demands.

Addressing a press conference, ACK Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit said the President has already embarked on implementing some of the demands including the firing of his Cabinet, signing of the IEBC (Amendment) Bill, 2024 into law, and the resignation of police boss Japhet Koome.

“We appeal to the Gen Zs to give the government time to implement the changes they have demanded,” he said.

“As he appoints the new team, the President should look for merit in those who will be replacing those who were removed."

Sapit further called on the youth to desist from actions that will jeopardise the very future that all Kenyans are fighting for.

The Archbishop said both the government and protestors must uphold the rule of law and avoid actions that may lead to chaos and further suffering of Kenyans.

“Let the police provide protestors with security and professionally manage protests without resorting to the use of live bullets, teargassing of demonstrators, and arbitrary arrests,” he said.

Sapit further said every Kenyan has the right to information.

“We condemn recent acts where media personalities were attacked in broad daylight. We say no to harming of anyone who is informing Kenyans,” he stated.

Sapot said ACK will monitor and report any progress that is made and demand that whatever has been committed should be implemented.
