Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested a senior Kericho county employee over alleged bribery.
The lands officer was busted by the officers at his office while receiving the money from a client.
EACC said the officer had demanded allegedly Sh200,000 from the client (complainant) in order to facilitate a land transaction.
"He was nabbed in his office in Kericho after he received Sh100,000 as the initial deposit for the demanded Sh200,000 bribe," EACC said.
The complainant's plot, the commission said, registered in the name of their late mother, had been incorrectly combined with another entity.
The lands survey office separated the plot, but the suspect insisted on a Sh200,000 bribe to release the new title, it said.
"The complainant refused to succumb to the bribe demands and instead sought help from EACC."
The suspect is being held at the Nakuru Central Police Station, EACC said.
EACC has continued to intensify enforcement actions against corrupt land officials across the country.
The incident is among the numerous cases across the country reported to the commission where land officials demand bribes before providing services.
The commission has also continued to emphasise on the need for service seekers to always report such instances.
