Two people died on the spot on Saturday evening along Embu-Makutano Road in Kirinyaga when two private cars collided head-on.

One person was seriously injured in the accident and was rushed to Mwea Mission Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.

One of the cars was travelling from Ngurubani to Embu while the other was travelling from Embu to Makutano.

Witnesses said they had a bang and rushed to the scene only to find two people dead and one critically hurt.

The bodies were taken to Mwea Mission Hospital morgue while the vehicles were towed to Wang’uru police station.

The police urged motorists to be extra vigilant especially when driving at night.

Area residents said the area was a black spot and urged the government to erect bumps to curb speeding.
