Detectives in Kuresoi have arrested an Assistant Chief over alleged defilement. 

The Assistant Chief, 42, is alleged to have defiled the four-year-old girl.

According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the man was arrested after the parents of the minor reported the matter.

"The arrest followed a harrowing report from the parents of a 4-year-old minor who had complained of severe pain while passing urine prompting her parents to investigate further," the DCI said.

The DCI said the minor revealed that she had been defiled by the suspect prompting the parents to immediately take her to hospital for medical examination and treatment.

DCI stated that upon receiving the report, investigations into the matter commenced leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect has since been arraigned and is currently remanded in Nakuru.

DCI said that the case is set for mention on July 25, 2024.
