Luo elders to Ruto: Consider Owalo for reappointment to Cabinet

They said Owalo is a performer and should be considered for reappointment.

Luo Council of Elders have appealed to President William Ruto to reappoint former ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo to his Cabinet.

The elders drawn from Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya counties led by council chairman Nyandiko Ongandi said Owalo is a performer and should be considered for reappointment.

Nyandiko, who addressed the press at his home in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County on Wednesday said Owalo performed exemplary well for the two years at the helm of ICT docket.

He was accompanied by Trustee of Luo Council of Elders Ariko Adoyo and Okinyi Rao among others.

"We are appealing to the President to reappoint our son Owalo to any docket in his Cabinet based on his development track record," he said.

Ruto is yet to nominate the Attorney General and the EAC Cabinet Secretary.

Nyandiko said Owalo has worked tirelessly for Kenyans when he was appointed to the cabinet by the president without any favour. "Let him be given another chance in any other docket to continue serving Kenyans," he said.

Nyandiko praised Ruto for listening to Kenyans and urge the youth and leaders to engage in honest and constructive dialogue on issues affecting the country.

"We should give our beloved President time to implement the needs of Kenya. This can be achieved through peace, love and unity," he added.

Meanwhile, UDA party members from Nyanza Region have also appealed to Ruto to consider reappointing Owalo.

They said Ruto should reappoint Owalo following his development track record for the two years.

Led by UDA Kisumu county coordinator Luke Kirindo, the members expressed concern over the recent appointments which excluded Owalo.

“We want to single out his exclusion from the Cabinet considering the transformation he initiated in the ICT docket,” he said.

The UDA members who were drawn from Migori, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Siaya counties described Owalo as a performer and great mobiliser who should not be left out of the government.
