Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale

Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has expressed delight following the nomination of Dorcas Oduor for the position of Attorney-General.

Khalwale noted that Dorcas missed out on the position of the Director of Public Prosecution since 2013.

Oduor is currently the Principal Deputy to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

“She profoundly deserves to be advising the government,” the Kakamega senator said on X.

The nomination comes a few days after President William Ruto reassigned Rebecca Miano to the Tourism ministry.

Miano had been picked to be Attorney General after Ruto dissolved his entire Cabinet.

If successful Oduor will take over from Justin Muturi who has been nominated to serve as Public Service Cabinet Secretary.

Oduor is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management (UoN), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree (UoN) and a Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.

Once appointed by the President, Oduor will become the principal legal adviser to the Government.

She will also represent the national government in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the national government is a party, other than criminal proceedings.

She will perform any other functions conferred on the office by an Act of Parliament or by the President.

She will form part of President Ruto's newly reconstituted Cabinet which includes at least four members from the Opposition party, ODM.
