Gem Constituency Member of Parliament Elisha Odhiambo has called on ODM Cabinet nominees to live up to the promises and manifesto of the party once approved.

Addressing the media at Nyawara Girls High School, Odhiambo welcomed President William Ruto's move to nominate ODM party members to his new broad-based government.

Ruto last week nominated John Mbadi and Opiyo Wandayi as CSs for the National Treasury and Energy respectively.

Odhiambo said nomination of the two by the President will lead to a more cohesive society and a more united Kenya where all ethnic communities feel that they are part and parcel of the process.

The legislator noted that the dockets assigned to the two ODM members are critical, adding that if handled properly, will change the lives of many.

He directed the nominees when approved, to live up to the promises and manifesto of ODM party.

"Mbadi, CS Treasury is in charge of disbursement of monies to counties, ODM has been at the forefront for devolution so it is up to him to live up to the promise and manifesto of our party to ensure that money is disbursed and that we can be able to re-strengthen the shilling," he said.

Ruto while nominating a new batch of Cabinet members also named Ali Hassan Joho to the Mining and Blue economy docket and Wycliffe Oparanya to the Cooperatives docket.

The vetting process for these nominees is set to take place this week, with a panel of MPs tasked with scrutinising their qualifications and suitability for the roles.

The nominations come in the wake of widespread public protests and demands for a complete overhaul of the cabinet.

The vetting process is crucial as it will determine their approval and whether the new nominees are fit to serve in their respective positions, amidst calls for transparency and accountability.
