Who is Beatrice Askul Moe, CS nominee for EAC

Ruto nominated the social scientist and consultant to cabinet on Tuesday.

President William Ruto on Tuesday nominated Beatrice Askul Moe to the Ministry of East African Community Affairs (EAC) and Regional Development.

It was the only pending slot that was yet to be filled since the President started reconstituting his cabinet.

"His Excellency the President has transmitted the nomination for appointment to Cabinet to the National Assembly for consideration and approval in fulfilment of the legal requirements set out under our nation's supreme law,” Head of Public Service Felix Koskei said in a statement.

Moe is a social scientist and a consultant by profession with specialised skills in the development and management of community affairs, towards behavioural and social change in communities.

Until her nomination, she was a member of the ODM party's National Elections Coordinating Committee, a three-member entity tasked with coordinating the party's elections to end the culture of selling tickets to the highest bidders.

She sat on the newly created electoral body with Richard Tairo and Emily Awita following the disbandement of the National Elections Board.

Moe was in November 2022 nominated by ODM alongside five others to be members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). 

She also previously served as the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Water, Irrigation, Agriculture and Land Reclamation in Turkana County Government.

She also previously worked as a director of the Rift Valley Water Services Board and chairperson of the Technical Committee of the Rift Valley Water Services Board.

Moe also chaired the Audit Committee to the Rift Valley Water Services Board, was a Project Officer, AMREF Kenya Turkana Project and Relief Officer for the Oxfam Turkana Relief Program.

The CS nominee has undertaken various certifications and trainings including County Induction Course at Kenya School Government while working as CEC in Turkana County Government.

She has also undertaken a Corporate Governance Course (CGC) while serving as member to Rift Valley Water Services Board and undergone training on Audit Committees by KCA University (Institute for Capacity Development; Training of Trainers (TOT) Course for Community-based development by AMREF Kenya.

Moe has also been trained in Methodologies for Conducting Baseline Assessment Survey for Food Security and Nutrition Improvement Project Turkana.
