Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has maintained that he will not be party to any national conversation over the country’s current crisis.

Kalonzo stated his stand on Wednesday evening hours after Opposition leader Raila Odinga convened a meeting with Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition principals.

“No national conversation,” the Wiper party leader posted on X.

Kalonzo has previously said he would not be part of the dialogue proposed by President William Ruto to quell the tension witnessed in the country.

He has argued that any participation amounts to a betrayal of the Kenyan youth who have rejected the said dialogue through their anti-government demonstrations.

On Wednesday, the meeting convened by Raila is said to have deliberated issues regarding the coalition.

Among those who attended the meeting included Kalonzo, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Kenya African National Union (KANU) party chairperson Gideon Moi, Party of National Unity (PNU) chairperson Peter Munya and Siaya Governor James Orengo.

Azimio’s has been hit by split fears following the decision of one of its affiliate parties, ODM, to accept Cabinet positions in President William Ruto’s administration.

Martha Karua's Narc-Kenya has formally expressed its interest in exiting Azimio.

Ruto has nominated John Mbadi (ODM chair) for the National Treasury position, Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi (Energy) and deputy party leaders Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho for Cooperatives and MSMEs and Mining and Blue Economy dockets respectively.

Kalonzo has directed MPs in his party to reject ODM-nominated CSs during vetting.
