A man was on Friday arrested in Wajir for allegedly breaking into a telecommunication company and siphoning diesel.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in a statement said the man was arrested while his accomplices managed to escape.
The officers were acting on intelligence received about the break-in in Halane area.
On receiving the reports, the officers responded swiftly and caught the suspects in the act as they were siphoning diesel from the company.
"The suspect's accomplices managed to slip away into the cover of darkness, leaving their comrade in crime to face the consequences," DCI said.
According to the DCI, the operation led to the recovery of three full 20-litre jerrycans and one half-full 20-litre jerry can of siphoned diesel.
Also recovered were 14 empty 20-litre jerrycans and a siphoning pipe.
"The suspect is currently being held at Wajir Police Station for processing pending arraignment as the search for his accomplices continues," DCI said.
