The vetting of Cabinet Secretary nominees has entered day three at Parliament.

Mbadi explained that this is not inclusive of liabilities which amounts to Sh57million.

The liabilities, he said, were in the form of mortgages in Parliamentary Service Commission, Sacco loans (Sh20 million) and KCB bank loan of Sh12 million.

"The only deferred income investments which I have is with ICEA of about Sh6 million and the pension which I do not know how much it would be," he explained.

"When we last vetted you, what were you worth?" posed Committee chair and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula.

While he did not provide further details about it, Mvurya responded that it was at Sh120 million attributing this to the value of a property he said he just completed.

Mvurya added that this is not inclusive of the mortgage benefits as stated in his wealth declaration.

Rebecca Miano

Tourism CS nominee Rebecca Miano was the third one to be vetted.

Miano explained why she was the best candidate for the position.

She said in her workstations she ended up in the C-suite offices the last one being as a CEO for five years.

"In that docket, I acquired critical skills in terms of leadership, managing organisations, operations, finance and strategies," she said.

"I feel that the competencies that I have have prepared me for another docket."

Miano revealed that her net worth was Sh444,000.

During her last vetting in September 2022, the nominee was worth Sh397,000.

"I have not increased the assets but what I have done is to revalue modestly the properties taking into account the appreciation," she said.

Opiyo Wandayi

The Energy and Petroleum Cabinet nominee Opiyo Wandayi was the 4th one to be vetted.

Wandayi explained why he was the best candidate for the position.

Speaking when he appeared before the Committee on Appointments in Parliament, Wandayi said he has been a member of the Public Investment Committee, Energy and Commercial.

This, he said, adds to his competencies to handle the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

"Apart from being the leader of the minority, I have also been a member of the Public Investment Committee, Energy and Commercial," he said.

He exuded confidence that he has the necessary competencies that are required to handle the docket, given his academic, professional and Parliamentary background.

The fifth and last CS nominee of the day was Kipchumba Murkomen.

Murkomen was nominated for the position of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports.

Murkomen said his net worth is Sh620,000,000.
