Victims of the August 7, 1998 bombing of the US Embassy in Nairobi gathered at the memorial park to mark the 26th anniversary of the terrorist attack.

More than 5,000 people were seriously injured in the bloody bomb blast that greeted Kenya’s capital.

The attack happened almost simultaneously in the US Embassy in Nairobi and in Dar es Salaam.

Washington claimed that the attacks were masterminded by Osama bin Laden, the former leader of al-Qaida who was killed by U.S. forces in 2011.
