Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said the enmity between Nyanza and Mt Kenya regions is now gone.

Speaking in Meru at the Methodist Church in Kenya, Mikumbune, Gachagua stated that Mt Kenya leaders are going to look for friends, saying they cannot work alone.

“We have sat with religious leaders and agree that there will be no time Mt Kenya region will hate anybody or a community because it will be costly for us,” he said.

“We have realised the secret to thrive in the country is to look for friends."

The DP vowed that the Mt Kenya region will never have a prejudice against anybody or a community in the future.

“I was welcomed in Nyanza. I was accepted as a leader from Mt Kenya. I want to thank the people of Nyanza for accepting our friendship. I want to assure them the problem we had with Raila and Nyanza people is over,” he said.

“Raila and Nyanza people are our friends, Kalonzo and the Kamba people are our friends, Wetang’ula, Wamalwa, Musalia and Natembeya are our friends."

The DP noted that the recent tour of Nyanza was highly successful.

“People are saying that Mt Kenya people did not want Baba but now you are saying he is a great man. What happened?

"It is important that we explain. Mt Kenya as a community had a problem with Raila. When retired President Uhuru Kenyatta told us Raila is a good man and that we should vote for him, we rejected,” he said

“When the President changed his mind and said Raila is a good man, and that is what Uhuru had said, I asked myself, who is the fool here? Don’t you think we will be foolish to say Raila is a bad man?” he posed.
