  • Ruto is to arrive in China today afternoon for the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Key services at the JKIA are expected to be paralysed today as Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) staff down tools. 

Kenya Airports Workers' Union (KAWU) announced the strike last week over the deal to lease out the JKIA to Adani Group.

Union officials said they will only call off the strike once the deal has been completely abandoned, and their proposal, deemed unlawful.

Ruto in China 

President William Ruto is expected to land in China today for the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Ruto departed the country Sunday evening.

He is among other heads of state who will attend the high-level summit focusing on improving the China-Africa partnership.

The summit will take place in Beijing from September 4-6, 2024.

FOCAC is an official forum between China and all African states except for the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Aoko case

A Magistrate court is to issue directions in a case in which Journalist Scophine Aoko Otieno alias Maverick Aoko Otieno is facing charges of allegedly publishing false information on her 'X' social media handle.

Aoko faces two other counts of cyber harassment and fraudulent use of electronic data.

It is alleged that on August 3, she published false, defamatory and threatening information touching on one 'Amber Ray and 'Jamal'
