Guard killed in raid by suspected thugs on school in Machakos

A night guard was hacked and killed in a robbery at a school in Machakos Town.

An unknown number of thugs raided Kyasila Secondary School and stole assorted goods and an unknown amount of money.

It was during the Monday night robbery that the gang hacked and killed a guard on duty after he tried to stop their mission.

The body of the guard was found in a form four classroom with his hands tied behind his back.

Police said he had a deep head wound and was badly bleeding when he was found hours after the robbery.

He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, police said.

Preliminary findings show he was hacked in the head using a sharp object.

It was then discovered the assailants had entered through the neighboring ABC Kyasila Church's fence.

The robbers broke into the church's kitchen store and stole therein 10 litres of cooking oil and nine kilogrammes of sugar before they proceeded and ransacked the principal's and deputy principal's offices.

They are said to have stolen an unknown amount of money and valuables.

The gang then proceeded to Kyasila Primary School, where they stole a motorcycle before escaping.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Police said no arrest has been made so far. A team of detectives is pursuing the attackers for prosecution, police said.

The team is investigating both robbery with violence and murder in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man was stabbed and killed in an attack in Kapsabet, Nandi County.

Police said Weldon Koech, 27, was stabbed in the chest by a known assailant who was later arrested in the Tuesday morning incident in Kiminda location.

The incident happened following a misunderstanding and argument near a petrol station.
