On Wednesday, the MPs are set to consider the report by the joint committee of National Assembly Administration and Internal Security and Senate’s Internal Security, Defence and Foreign Relations on the nomination of Douglas Kanja as the next Inspector General of Police.

This will be the last stage in the process as Senate has already approved him for appointment.

Acting IG in charge of Administration Police Gilbert Masengeli has been holding the position in an acting capacity.

If approved, Kanja will succeed Japhet Koome who resigned July 12.

He has held the position since 2022.
