Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said on Friday he will soon start to give Kenyan regular updates on the intricacies of the government.

Speaking on Citizen TV, the DP said he would keep Kenyans informed about happenings in inner circles within the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“Going forward, in the next few weeks, I will be talking to my supporters; telling them what is going on, what is being planned and what is likely to happen so that they are aware,” he said.

Gachagua maintained that he has the responsibility to tell the people about the goings-on in government.

“I was elected by the people. You have the responsibility to always inform your employer what is going on so that they become aware. They should not be left to wonder what is going on,” he added.

“We have the responsibility as leaders to inform the people. They are the ones who employed us.”

Gachagua said he was not given the job by the President or MPs.

“The President nominated me and proposed me for confirmation by the people of Kenya. Kenyans confirmed William Ruto’s nominee, Rigathi Gachagua, as the right person for the job,” he added.

He maintained that it is Kenyans who gave him the job.

The DP, however, said he would be less bothered if lawmakers impeached him.

“It is not about impeaching Rigathi Gachagua. It is about the people of Kenya. It is what that impeachment would do to the country. This is Deputy President who was elected by Kenyans and has a following in some one kind or another and people who believe in him,” he added.
