Man slashed to death in fight over cane money in Muhoroni, Kisumu

A man was slashed to death in a fight over money he and the assailant had received from sales of cane seeds in Muhoroni, Kisumu County.

The incident happened Monday morning in Mikira village, police said.

The body of Fredrick Oranga was found lying in a pool of blood after he had been slashed by his friend following a disagreement over sharing of proceeds from the sale of cane seeds.

The two had sold cane seeds for an undisclosed amount of money when a disagreement arose on the sharing of the same.

A fight ensued and the assailant while armed with a panga attacked the deceased and inflicted serious and deadly injuries on him.

The two were in a room together where the fight ensued, locals and police said.

The body was moved to Othoo Funeral Home for autopsy.

According to police, the suspect was later cornered by the angry youths who inflicted injuries on his forehead.

Police officers rescued him and rushed him to Nyang'oma Subcounty Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

Elsewhere in Kendubay, a 68-year-old woman died after being assaulted by her son in a domestic fight.

Police said the incident happened in Kogwano Orwang Sublocation and involved one Rodah Akinyi Mathew.

She was rushed to Homabay Referral Hospital where she succumbed to the injuries.

The assailant escaped the scene and efforts to arrest him are ongoing, police said.

The body was transferred to Gendia Adventist Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Meanwhile, the body of a 45-year-old man was found in a house in Sinai area, Mukuru slums, Nairobi.

The deceased was identified as Saidi Mutua, 45. Police said the body was found lying on his bed with no injuries.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
