The Kenya Kwanza leaders have been urged to stop wrangling and instead engage for the benefit of the country.

Entrust Pioneer Party (EPP) Narok Coordinator, Lemayian Seleina emphasised the need for a political truce between President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Seleina warned that the ongoing tensions among their allies could lead to national divisions.

“These political battles will not help us resolve the pressing issues facing millions of Kenyans,” he stated.

Speaking to the Star, Seleina said the two leaders should reconcile instead of engaging in political supremacy which at the end of the day will not solve the problems affecting the millions of Kenyans.

He pointed out that the country is still recovering from recent protests, and subjecting Kenyans to further political turmoil would distract leaders from fulfilling their mandates.

“Political leaders should promote peace and prioritize the needs of the people over their selfish interests,” he urged.

He added that the nation is still healing from frequent protests from Gen Z generations and subjecting Kenyans to another political showdown will distract leaders from delivering the mandates to the people.

“The ongoing healing and reconciliation in the country due to demonstrations could be made possible if political leaders preached peace and prioritised the agenda for Kenyans, not their selfish interests,” he said.

The sentiments come at a time when a section of MPs and senators have vowed to table impeachment against Gachagua in what they termed as ‘undermining the government.’

While they respect the role of impeachment as a critical tool in oversight, Seleina said the politicians should stop politicking and instead address the issues which currently affecting Kenyans.

“Our nation is currently facing pressing issues of unprecedented economic challenges, rising costs of living, unemployment, stagnant wages, failed health system and public policies that require urgent legislative attention,” the official said.

He noted that it is sad that the leaders have started early campaigns while many Kenyans are still living in poverty and they are detrimental to the development issues.

“We cannot be preoccupied with an impeachment while the country is gaped at significant failure,” he remarked.

The official called on the politicians to use the energy they are currently using to engage in politics to make good policies for Kenyans because they have many challenges and issues that need to be addressed.
