Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli has urged Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to stop sabotaging the government.

Atwoli said Gachagua had taken an oath, including on secrecy in cabinet, but he had gone against the same and was sabotaging the government while promoting disunity.

He alleges that the DP, instead of supporting the government he swore to serve, has turned around and is undermining even working to incite Kenyans to chaos.

Atwoli said many countries in Africa, including Sudan, were facing problems because of war, and anyone who wants to cause similar problems in the country should be arrested and prosecuted for the sake of securing the lives of Kenyans.

“As a leader, you took the oath and even asked God to help you as you run the government. How do you start contradicting the government yet you sit in the cabinet and the security council and there is the oath of secrecy that you took. You should be arrested," Atwoli said

The Cotu boss was speaking at Turbo Catholic Church on Saturday, where he was hosted by President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet during a Thanksgiving event.

The Thanksgiving service was presided by Bishop Dominic Kimengich of Eldoret.

“After elections, I told Gachagua that if you want to succeed, you should work closely with your boss by supporting him fully," Atwoli said.

He said nothing would go wrong in the country despite threats from selfish individuals who wanted to derail President Ruto’s agenda for the country.

Atwoli said leaders from the Western Kenya region, led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musallia Mudavadi and Speaker Moses Wetangula, are fully behind President Ruto.

“We don’t want anyone to keep on telling us about the mountain, which belongs to all of us. That is why it’s called Mt Kenya just like Mt Kilimanjaro, which is for all people in East Africa," Atwoli said.

Farouk said all Kenyans wanted was peace so that they could engage in national development.

“Even for President Ruto to win, he needed all Kenyans, and we all must cherish peace and unity as the cornerstone of our nation,"  Farouk said.

He asked church leaders to keep on praying for the country and also support education programmes especially to benefit the youth.

“We also ask our church leaders to continue guiding our youth so that they avoid alcoholism and any other behavior that can ruin their lives,"  Farouk said.

Farouk said the president was committed to uniting Kenyans and all leaders should support him.

Also present at the Thanksgiving event were Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjiri, Benjamin Washali(Kenya Tourism Board), MPs Janet Sitienei (Turbo), Malulu Injendi (Malava), Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo), and Benard Shinali (Ikolomani).

The MPs echoed the same sentiments, saying leaders should not seek to divide Kenyans along trial lines.

Kiunjuri said the DP’s problems were not for the entire Kikuyu community.

“For us in that region, we will continue to support the President and urge our people not to be misled by someone who has selfish interests," Kiunjuri said.
