Mutuse to MPs: When voting prioritise interests of people you represent

Kibwezi West MP Mutuse Mwengi has urged Members of Parliament to prioritise the interests of the people they represent when they vote on the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking on Tuesday when he moved the motion, Mutuse insisted that to do this, they must vote out Gachagua.

He assured the legislators that should they impeach Gachagua, he is ready to defend the case in the Senate.

Mutuse said he is confident the Senate will uphold their decision and the country will have a better Deputy President.

“As you rise to vote please have the best interest of your people at heart. I urge you as one of your colleagues, when this motion is finally put to vote, please vote to impeach Rigathi Gachagua," he said.

“As I conclude, I am confident that colleague MPs who approved this motion, I want to assure you that in the event you vote for this motion I will also persuasively defend it before the Senate and I'm sure the Senate will also uphold it and Kenya will have a better Deputy President who views the country as a whole."

The Kibwezi West MP has levelled 11 accusations against the Gachagua that culminate in violation of the Constitution, Corruption and bullying.

The motion is currently being debated.

The Deputy President is also expected to reply to all the allegations against him at 5 pm, today.
