Interior CS Kithure Kindiki remains the most preferred choice for Deputy President should Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment be successful, a new poll by Infotrak has said.

According to the poll, at least 20 per cent of the respondents preferred Kindiki.

The poll said those who chose Kindiki cited his experience and track records as the key reasons he is fit for the role.

They also cited his competence.

Kindiki was closely followed by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi at 5 per cent each.

It said support for the Interior Cabinet Secretary was particularly strong in the Rift Valley, Mt Kenya, Eastern and the Nairobi regions.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro followed with four per cent each, while former Prime Minister Raila Odinga closed the ranking with two per cent.

The survey was conducted on October 9, 2024. 1,000 Kenyans were interviewed, from across the 47 counties.

The survey comes a few days after a poll by Tifa said Kindiki was the most preferred to replace Gachagua.

In the poll, support for Kindiki is particularly strong in the Mt. Kenya region, where 58 per cent preferred him, compared to 30 per cent from other regions.
