President William Ruto has noted that the partnership between the state and religious institutions has been a cornerstone of the nation.

He acknowledged the Catholic Church as being amongst the four most of the state’s partners, and which continues to complement national strategies to serve citizens in many sectors including education, healthcare and, the provision of psychosocial and pastoral services.

“Throughout the life of our nation, the partnership between the state and the religious institutions has been a cornerstone of our nation’s strength,” he said.

He spoke on Saturday when he officiated the appointment of Rt. Rev. Wallace Ng'ang'a Ng'ang'a as the new Bishop of the Military Ordinariate of Kenya, at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Ruto added that the partnership, which is built on mutual respect, tolerance and moral uprightness, anchors the society.

The President thanked Pope Francis for appointing Bishop Ng’ang’a, noting that it strengthens the military’s spiritual standing.

He noted that the appointment reflects the ongoing collaboration between religious institutions and the state in fostering a spiritually grounded military.

“Under Bishop Ng'ang'a’s leadership, we expect the Military Ordinariate to provide essential spiritual support to our soldiers,” Ruto stated.

He congratulated the Bishop as he took over the responsibility, adding that his leadership would be vital to the KDF officers.

Ruto expressed an impression when the Secretary for the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) said the Catholic church believes in support for the poor and vulnerable in society.

“That is the essence of humanity. To be able to serve those who are underprivileged,” he said.
