Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru joined Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani and five other Female Governors in Kwale County for the G7 Kwale Chapter.
The event brought together Governor Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay County), Governor Wavinya Ndeti (Machakos County), Governor Susan Kihika (Nakuru County) and Governor Cecily Mbarire (Embu County).
They were also joined by Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa.
The leaders launched the Oncology Centre at Kwale Sub-County Hospital and toured key development projects, including the County Recording Studio and the Kwale Stadium, which will host this year’s Mashujaa Day.
They later proceeded to Kinango Sub-County Hospital, where they commissioned the construction of a Renal Unit and Intensive Care Unit, before visiting Kwale Teachers Training College.
Waiguru, the immediate former Chairperson of the Council of Governors, praised Governor Achani for her investments in healthcare, particularly the Oncology Centre and the new ICU and Renal Unit projects.
"The people of Kwale are fortunate to have a hardworking governor who has made significant contributions to the health and education sectors, reducing poverty in the county," Waiguru said.
Waiguru said that Governor Achani’s efforts highlight the significant strides her administration has made in improving healthcare, and education, and creating new opportunities for Kwale residents.
She added that Achani's leadership is a powerful example of the positive outcomes of women in leadership, embodying the core principles of the G7 Strategy aimed at empowering communities through development.
"Governor Achani’s leadership is a perfect example of how impactful women in leadership can be, enhancing healthcare, education, and creating new opportunities for the people of Kwale. Her vision aligns seamlessly with the G7 Strategy, proving once again that when women lead, " Waiguru said.
The G7 Kwale Chapter Activation was said to be a vibrant and successful event, showcasing commitment to achieving gender parity and increasing the number of women in leadership at all levels of government.
