Former EAC and Regional Development CS Peninah Malonza is training her sights on the Kitui gubernatorial seat in the 2027 general election.
She said her urge to take over as the next governor of Kitui is an overwhelming divine calling to offer better leadership for the county that she could not resist.
Describing herself as a workaholic and top performer, Malonza on Saturday urged the people of Kitui to elect her the next governor on account of her track record in public service.
“You are all aware of my excellent performance when I was the deputy governor of Kitui and when I was given a top government job. I am a workaholic,” she said.
Malonza said she had a clean image that was not tainted by fraud or looting. She said, if elected, she will uplift the living standards of women, children and men of Kitui. “I want to see Kitui county people and members of the Kamba community at large being viewed with respect and their living standards improved,” she said.
Malonza has been holding meetings and distributing water tanks to vulnerable families in the county since she was relieved of her CS duties by President William Ruto. She spoke during a ceremony to pray for Kitui.
The event was held at
Ikutha chief’s camp in Kitui South on
Saturday.
She is the third woman leader from
Kitui to declare interest in the seat.
