Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka joined Kiambu residents and other leaders in celebrating the birthday of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The former President celebrated his 63rd birthday on Saturday, October 26.

Uhuru was, however, not in the country during his birthday but said he would celebrate with his friends.

During the Monday celebration in Kiambu, local leaders and residents organised a cake branded with Uhuru’s name.

They sang birthday songs and cut the cake while wishing the fourth President well as he turned 63.

Among the leaders who accompanied Kalonzo were politicians Maina Njenga, and Ferdinand Waititu, among others.

Kalonzo revealed that Uhuru was on his way back from Congo where he had attended the 15th High-Level Retreat on the Promotion of Peace, Security, and Stability in Africa in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

Uhuru attended the event in his capacity as the facilitator of the East Africa Community (EAC)-led Nairobi peace process.

Kalonzo told off social media users who were spreading narratives about the health of the former President saying he is well and healthy.

“We are expecting our brother Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta to return home early. Some people were spreading false information but he is healthy. He was seen in Côte d'Ivoire and he is still on the way. Those spreading the fake information may be ashamed. May the devil be ashamed,” he said.

In a phone interview with Milele FM on Saturday, Uhuru said he was doing well and was at peace.

The retired President urged Kenyans to embrace unity.

“I'm well; I'm at peace and I'm grateful to God. I'm praying for peace and understanding in our nation, as this is the only way our country will grow and prosper," he said.

"Nowadays, I do not speak much but I wish peace and unity to Kenyans. We all should know that we are human beings and have needs. we should stop hatred among each other,” the former President said.

“I have never had an issue with anyone and till to date, I have no issue with anyone,” he reiterated.

Uhuru expressed gratitude to God for adding him another year and prayed that he continues to bless Kenyans.

“I thank God for the far he has brought me, I thank him for life and all the things he has done for us. I pray that he continues to keep us safe and grant us peace and unity,” he said.

He dedicated a Reggae song to his wife, Margaret Kenyatta.

"I Got You Babe by UB40," Uhuru said when asked what song that was.

He said his favourite meal was ‘nyama choma’ but he was forced to cut it down due to his age.
