Two die by suicide in Nairobi, Makueni

In Makueni, the incident involved a 14-year-old student.

As the number of suicide cases in the country became a matter of concern,  two more incidents took place in the week.

Police report indicate that a 52-year-old man on Monday died by suicide by hanging himself on a tree, at a thicket along the Dagoretti-Kikuyu railways.

Upon visiting the scene, the police established that the deceased had hanged himself using a white sisal knit rope.

He had left a suicide note, whose content had not been made public.

The body was moved to the St Teresa morgue awaiting postmortem.

In another case, police in Makueni were on Tuesday informed of a suicide incident

After visiting the scene, the officer found a 14-year-old high school student hanging with a sisal rope around her neck tied to a timber at the roof.

The scene was processed and the body was moved to the Sultan Hamud sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

 Elsewhere, In Kiminini, Bungoma County, a resident reported that she had seen a body floating in river Nzoia.

Police officers visited and established that the lifeless body of a 31-year-old man was floating in the said river.

With the support from the public, the body was retrieved and moved to Kitale Referral Hospital awaiting autopsy.

Another drowning incident was reported in Nyandarua County where a grandmother reported that her five-year-old grandson had fallen into a well.

Police officers rushed to the scene and found a well within a rental plot depth of around 45 feet with a broken lid.

The deceased was in the company of other children when he fell into the well.

With the help of the public, the child was retrieved and he was rushed to the Shamata dispensary but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

 The body was moved to the Nyahururu morgue for preservation and awaiting postmortem.
