The family of slain Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager Willis Ayieko is demanding justice ahead of his burial set for Saturday.
Speaking during the funeral service at All Saints Cathedral on Thursday, the family demanded speedy justice for their relative who died in mysterious circumstances with his mutilated body discovered in a river in Siaya county.
Ayieko's family, friends, and relatives poured glowing tribute to the former HR boss. They eulogised him as a stylish man who empowered many from near and far.
The family said Ayieko's body will be flown from Nairobi on Friday, ahead of his burial on Saturday at his Ong'iende home in Central Alego, Homa Bay County.
This happens as a suspect in the murder of Ayieko will remain in custody for 30 days as detectives investigate the saga.
Charles Otieno Odhiambo, 21 was arraigned before Siaya Magistrate Margaret Wamabani who granted the prosecution 30 days pending the conclusion of investigations.
Odhiambo was arrested by police in Kisumu after he was linked to the suspects who are believed to have executed the gruesome murder.
The prosecution requested the Magistrate’s Court to allow them to hold the suspect as the police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continue with the probe.
Wambani granted the prayers and ordered that the suspect, who is the fifth in the murder case, be remanded at the Railway Police Station in Kisumu.
She directed that the suspect be subjected to a mental assessment test, adding that the investigating officers are also granted an opportunity to conduct a forensic examination on his two mobile phones.
The suspect was apprehended in Kisumu and is believed to have played a significant role in the events preceding this tragic incident, police said.
He is alleged to have provided transport for Victor Ouma, also known as Sisco, to the location where Ayieko was abducted, investigations have shown.
