Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says he has no role in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
In a video seen by the Star, Kalonzo, referring to the Azimio leaders who have joined the government, said he will not follow their way.
He said he would not turn his allegiance even if he will be left with a few people to fight for the country.
“Mimi hata sina cheo kwa Azimio la Umoja lakini nimeshikilia wenzangu angalau tudhibiti nchi ili isiende mbaya (I have no role in Azimio la Umoja but I’m leading the others so we can anchor the country so it does not turn to the wrong direction,” he said.
He urged Kenyans to unite and not let division come between them, urging all to stand for what is just.
This comes even as Kalonzo and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa hinted at ditching the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance for a new political outfit.
Speaking in Kitale, the two leaders said the new political outfit will offer alternative leadership to the people of Kenya.
According to Kalonzo, the two are still consulting widely.
“A good idea always gives way to a better idea. What we are thinking about is a better idea. We are looking ahead and we are very consultative,” Kalonzo said.
The former Vice President, however, warned the media not to write off Azimio yet, saying that if all goes well, it could be part of the new coalition.
“I want to urge the media not to bury Azimio before it is actually dead and buried. If we come up with a new outfit, it could even incorporate perhaps Azimio itself,” he said.
On his part, Wamalwa said their new political vehicle could be ready as soon as early next year.
“We are just a few days to the New Year and there are new things that are coming and I believe there will be a new coalition, and a new government. I believe that this is the team that will save Kenya from corruption,” Wamalwa said.
