Deputy President Kithure Kindiki now says that the Kenya Kwanza administration will not allow enforced disappearances, abductions and femicide to continue in the country.
Speaking on Sunday, Kindiki said that targeted killings will also not be allowed, citing the many cases of Bodaboda rider killings reported in Taita Taveta several months ago.
He vowed to work closely with whoever will become Interior Cabinet Secretary bring all the senseless killings to a stop.
The DP insisted that the law must take its course and perpetrators brought to book by all means.
“This country is a country governed by the Constitution, we will not permit enforced disappearances, abductions, extrajudicial killings, femicides, and killings that are targeted to any particular groups including bodaboda riders who have died in this county.
“We will work with the new Interior Cabinet Secretary, we must make sure we stop senseless killings of the people of Kenya and make sure any person who kills, the law takes its course because even the bible curses those who kill,” Kindiki said.
His remarks follow a recent surge in the cases of femicides in the country.
In his exit remarks as Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kindiki said that while he had done his best to solve the many challenges that came with leading the Interior ministry.
He noted that, he hopes his successor will be able to deal firmly, with the remaining issues including femicides and abductions.
“I pray that my successor will build on the gains we made and succeed to roll back the emerging reports of mysterious disappearances, abductions and femicide,” Kindiki said.
