President William Ruto has once again reiterated his commitment to the Affordable Housing Program, a key pillar of his development agenda.

Speaking during his State of the Nation Address in Parliament, the President emphasized the initiative’s transformative potential in addressing housing deficits while creating jobs for thousands of Kenyans.

During the groundbreaking ceremony in Ziwani, Ruto highlighted the program's dual focus on providing affordable housing and stimulating economic growth through job creation.

The president stated that the housing project has created jobs for architects, surveyors, manufacturers and even developers among others.

“After two years the housing projects are now almost complete with 488,000 units ready for occupation,” Ruto said.

“The units will consist of studios, 1 bedroom,2 bedroom, 3 bedrooms that will cater for everyone.”

The President also acknowledged the challenges faced by many Kenyans in accessing decent housing.

The President defended the scheme, asserting that it is vital for achieving long-term economic stability and urban development.

The Affordable Housing Program is set to deliver thousands of units across the country, with notable projects already underway in Nairobi, Kisumu, and Mombasa.

In Ruiru, the President launched a project comprising over 1,000 units, while the Starehe initiative in Nairobi targets 20 billion Kenyan shillings in investments to construct 6,000 units.

These developments aim to meet the growing demand for urban housing while creating opportunities for local contractors and suppliers.

As the President continues to advocate for the program, his administration is also addressing concerns by engaging stakeholders and ensuring transparency in the project’s implementation.

The Affordable Housing Program, Ruto emphasized, is “unstoppable” and remains a cornerstone of his vision for a more inclusive and prosperous Kenya
